Playing virtual reality games with friends makes it even more fun. Sadly, not everyone can afford to buy a VR headset, so we put together a few games that you can play with just one headset.
Here are 33+ of my favorite asymmetrical VR games for oculus quest and other VR headsets. These local multiplayer games can be played on one PC with a player in VR and one or more using the monitor on that same PC either in co-op or against each other.

1. Carly and the Reaperman
Carly and the Reaperman – Escape from the Underworld is a co-op puzzle platformer starring the VR player as the giant Reaper man and the PC player as Carly using a gamepad or keyboard.
She needs to reach the end goal of every level, but she’ll definitely need help at some point. The Reaper Man helps Carly move platforms and other large objects so that she can traverse the dangerous landscape and keep up with the challenges.
You will face a variety of enemies as well as tricky timing and physics challenges. There’s a ton of gameplay in here over 50 levels in total providing over 10 hours of gameplay. This is one of my favorite co-op games of all time.
Game Modes: Single User, Multiplayer, Co-op

The game is a collection of colorful and wacky minigames featuring a gorilla who is causing havoc and fighting PC players.
The PC players will be able to choose from a variety of vehicles to attack the gorilla, such as fighter jets, UFOs, and others.
It’s great to swap the headsets between mini-games and have everyone have their turn with the gorilla. It’s really easy for everyone to learn and start playing this game since it’s designed as a party game.
Game Modes: Single User, Multiplayer, Co-op

The PC players are trying to blend in inside a crowd of wandering Androids. if the PC players can activate all the gates throughout the level then they win and the VR player loses.
So the VR player needs to try and spot the real players inside the crowd of androids and destroy them in time.
The gameplay gets really interesting once you start using your powers. both the PC players and the VR players have unique powers to thwart and misdirect the opposition.
This game is one of my family’s favorites, whenever we have a VR party we always play this together and have a great time.

4. VR The Diner Duo
VR The Diner Duo is a co-op asymmetrical vr game with restaurant and communication challenges. A VR player is a chef assembling burgers, while a PC player on a keyboard and mouse is a waiter serving the burgers to customers.
As all the burgers must be made exactly to order, communication is key since the waiter must list the orders that the customers want. As more customers enter the restaurant, the waiter is even busier serving up sodas and making sure they don’t have to wait too long for their food.
People have so many great memories playing this with others. it’s fantastic fun to play but also really fun to watch others play as well. The game is available in both single-player and multiplayer modes.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/530120/VR_The_Diner_Duo/
5. Eye in the Sky

On a journey to the center of a post-apocalyptic robot planet, you need to share information and communicate with each other. All of you have different skills that complement each other.
VR players can lift large objects and push buttons, but only PC players can reach small spaces and proceed further than VR players through platforming. Eye in the Sky is a real hidden gem and incredibly fun to play with a friend.

Fast and Low is a buddy-cop game about two officers that need to clean up the streets. it’s a tactical first-person shooter within a colorful cartoony world.
As well as single-player play, there is an asymmetrical multiplayer mode where one cop plays in VR and the other cop on the same PC.
In VR, there is sliding movement or arm-swinging locomotion, and there is realistic weapon handling, such as loading ammo, stabilizing your weapon, and swinging for a pistol whip.
The game starts with two missions, and you have to earn a certain score in order to unlock more missions.
Before each mission, you choose your loadout, and then you get a briefing that explains your objectives and some tips throughout each mission, you’ll arrest people.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1097620/Fast_and_Low/
7. Containment Initiative
Containment Initiative is an asymmetrical co-op zombie shooter VR game. Over a year ago, there was only one game mode where the VR player faced off against the zombies and the PC player provided sniper support.
Originally we found it to be really fun, but the developer has continued to steadily update the game, and now there’s a ground support mode where the PC player can fight alongside the VR player.
As you play more, you can earn special weapons and upgrades you can use in the game. In addition to the different game modes, you also get rewards for continuing to play. This is a fantastic co-op game and it very frequently goes on sale.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/527700/Containment_Initiative/
8. Chicks and Tricks
It is sometimes disappointing when a free VR game becomes a paid one; however, chicks and tricks have not disappointed, even though it was once free.
VR Party Game to play with two people with one VR player playing a farmer, and one PC player playing the hungry Fox named tricks.
100 baby chicks are going to be fired out of the hen house, and the farmer must scoop up as many chicks as they can, whilst tricking the hungry Fox tries to eat as many chicks as they can.
Trix moves very fast, so the farmer has a tough time keeping the chicks from being eaten by tricks, but luckily the farmer can use the net to smack tricks to put them to sleep or send them out of the field to buy some extra time.
At the end of the game, the player who saved or ate the most chicks wins. This game can be played instantly and is a lot of fun. You need a room-scale of 2 meters by 1.5 meters.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1134200/Chicks_and_Tricks_VR/
9. IronWolf VR
The IronWolf VR is a one-man submarine simulator and the asymmetrical multiplayer allows a single user on a PC to assist with many submarine functions.
There is an interface on the PC player’s screen that looks like a dashboard, with dials and controls to assist the player in controlling the sub.
Although this game has a learning curve for both PC and VR players, if you love naval battles and missions then you will enjoy this game immensely.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/552080/IronWolf_VR/
10. Nemesis Realms
Nemesis Realms is a David versus Goliath brawl between a monster in VR, as well as up to four players using gamepads on PC.

11. Reiko’s Fragments
Rico’s fragments is an early access title available on Steam with one VR player trying to escape a haunted house, as well as up to eight players trying to scare that person to death.
Those who do not own a VR headset can join in the fun with their phones by acting as spirits in the game, which basically triggers jump scares.
VR horror games are certainly not for everyone, so this would not be my top choice when introducing people to VR.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1171240/Reikos_Fragments/
12. Acron: Attack of the Squirrels
Accor: Attack of the Squirrels is a highly addictive VR title in which a VR player as a tree protects its nuts, while up to eight people are able to join in from their phone and control a variety of squirrels with special abilities that can be used to gather those nuts.
Players can choose to play together or against each other in different game modes. It’s super easy for anyone to get into and it’s fun for just about all ages. It’s one of the few multiplayer VR games you can play at home with friends.

13. DAVIGO
DAVIGO is a “cross-reality” VR vs. PC battle game. In this game, the VR player takes on the role of a giant who’s battling a tiny creature controlled by someone at the keyboard and mouse.
When you play in VR, you feel powerful and in control, because you can rip up trees and other objects and throw them at your opponent, but when you play on a flat-screen, you have to use strategic counter-attacks.
There is online multiplayer and other options to this game, but I’m concentrating more on asymmetrical local play for this post.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1116540/DAVIGO/
14. Keep Talking & Nobody Explodes
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is a VR party game and puzzle game that only requires a VR headset and an instruction manual.
It’s designed for two people but you can play it with more. The VR player will be looking at a bomb with a timer and they’ll need to describe aspects of the bomb to someone who is only looking at the manual.
The bomb is designed to confuse and trip you up in such a way that you become exasperated in the process of diffusal.
Additionally, you will be anxious throughout the diffusal process as buzzers and constant ticking will make you feel stressed. The title is available not only on PCVR but you can also grab it on the oculus quest.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/341800/Keep_Talking_and_Nobody_Explodes/
15. Smush.tv
Smush.tv is another unique title, where the roles are reversed and instead of the VR gamer being the larger and more in control player, they are basically trapped in a Tetris box and the flat screen gamer is trying to smush them.
The VR gamer will be looking up into the sky as blocks descend upon them but there are different options to traverse the world and even defend yourself.

16. Takelings House Party
Takelings House Party is a frantic and local multiplayer party game for VR. Additionally, up to nine players can participate, one using VR and the rest using cell phones or traditional gamepads.
Every level has a different objective, and it’s not always the VR player versus a flat-screen gamer.
The flat-screen players will pretend to be Takelings, which are basically brightly colored humanoid creatures, and the VR player is just a regular human using an assortment of tools, usually kitchen tools, to eradicate as many Takelings as possible.
In my opinion, the kitchen level is my favorite one because there are so many fun ways to murder the Takelings like tossing them in the toaster or frying them on the stove but it creates these really tense moments when they all skitter around and do things like unplugging the toaster.
It’s also pretty satisfying to shoot Takelings with dual nail guns.
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/868150/Takelings_House_Party/
17. Nova Swarm
Nova Swarm is a space battle game for VR and PC with up to four players using gamepads. AI bots can be used instead of human players.
As the four other players try to destroy the VR player, the main ship is in the center of the arena. If the PC players are not attacking, the ships are invisible.
