Nothing Phone 1 vs Google Pixel 6a: Which Is Best in 2022?

Nothing Phone 1 vs Google Pixel 6a

Nothing Phone 1 vs Google Pixel 6a: Say hi to nothing, okay, let’s make it clear about Nothing Phone 1, the very first smartphone from the company known as nothing. It’s a pretty weird name to mention like nothing can do this; nothing beats an iPhone.

However, this Smartphone has gained a lot of attention in the smartphone industry. With its unique back design, it stands out from other smartphones. Also, it comes at an affordable price, but at an almost similar price, you can get the Google Pixel 6A, which is from Google.

Does Nothing Phone 1 have a higher level of reliability than the Google Pixel 6A? Let’s compare these two devices today and find out which one you should choose, so without further ado, let’s begin.

Nothing Phone (1) vs Google Pixel 6a: Design

We have already mentioned that Nothing Phone 1 has a unique design. It has a flat body design with an aluminum frame like a recent iPhone, which makes it lightweight and comfortable to hold. The front and back of the device are covered with gorilla glass 5.

Among the most tracking segments is the back segment, which is transparent and includes multiple LED lights. Nothing counts it as “Glyph”. These LED lamps will let you know about notifications, charging status, incoming calls, and the camera fill light.

Cool thing is that the LED light can dance with your ringtone. It also has a dual camera setup with LED lights around it. The camera looks like a Wally robot. whereas the Google Pixel 6A has a diagonal bumping camera design and that makes the Pixel 6 Series standard from its predecessor.

The Pixel 6A also features an aluminum frame, plastic back, and Gorilla Glass 3 to protect your device from accidental damage. Overall, if you’re more into unique design then the Nothing Phone 1 can be a pretty good choice.

Nothing Phone (1) vs Google Pixel 6a: Display

The Nothing Phone 1 has a 6.55-inch OLED screen that supports a 120hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits. However, it’s not using an L-top panel, but it will switch between 60hz to 120hz smartly and that’s pretty amazing.

On the other hand, Pixel 6A comes with a 6.1” and 60hz OLED display, which is bright and Vivid. The most important feature is that it has an always-on display, something that the Nothing Phone 1 does not have. In short, the Nothing Phone 1 has a bigger, brighter, and smoother display compared to the pixel 6A.

Nothing Phone (1) vs Google Pixel 6a: Camera

But what about the camera quality? Because this is now the most important feature that everyone looks for. And the Nothing Phone 1 delivers a 50MP main and a 50MP Ultra-wide camera.

Nothing also claimed they use Sony’s IMX766 and Samsung J1N sensors which doesn’t seem pretty exciting to be honest. The IMX 766 is the same sensor that is used in the OnePlus Nord 2.

Overall the camera quality is decent enough to ensure detailed environment images whereas the pixel 6A has a 12.2MP Main and a 12MP ultra-wide camera which is also not a bad camera in terms of its price.

Both phones feature AIS and OIS to provide stability while shooting. the pixel 6A can capture 4K videos at 60fps whereas the Nothing Phone 1 can shoot 4K videos only at 30 FPS.

Furthermore, Pixel 6A will feature stunning AI editing for outstanding image quality. In terms of a selfie camera, the Nothing Phone 1 boasts a 16MP single punch hole camera on the top left corner.

In contrast, the Pixel 6A has an 8-megapixel front camera. As a result, Nothing Phone 1 will provide better image quality because it has more pixels than Pixel 6A. But that doesn’t mean a pixel 6s camera is bad, though, since it will also deliver decent images.

Nothing Phone (1) vs Google Pixel 6a: Performance

Coming to performance, so what makes these phones stand out? Well, Nothing Phone 1 has fairly average specs, and this smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 778G plus which is a custom and mid-range chipset. However, you will get a balanced performance considering its price; also it won’t get laggy while doing heavy gaming.

On the other hand, the pixel 6A has a 5nm Google tensor chipset which is also not that powerful but can get the job done at this price range.

Nothing Phone (1) vs Google Pixel 6a: Battery

Let’s talk about battery life. The Nothing Phone one is equipped with a 4500 mAh battery which can ensure all the long power backup. It also supports 33 Watts fast charging and Carl Pei said it will take around 1 hour to get fully charged.

In addition to wireless charging, this phone also supports reverse wireless charging. On the other hand, the Pixel 6A has a 4410 mAh battery and 18 Watts fast charging, meaning it will take more time than the Nothing Phone one to fully juice up the battery.

Nothing Phone (1) vs Google Pixel 6a: Software

The software on both devices is quite good. The phone (1) runs Nothing OS 1.1.0, which is based on Android 12, and the interface itself is nearly identical to what you’ll find on a Pixel.

In addition to its unique software features, Google’s Pixels have a lot of interesting features like Now Playing, Recorder, and Magic Eraser that make them stand out—and that goes for the Pixel 6a as well.

While nothing could have improved its interface, it instead built extraneous utilities like a Tesla connection feature and an NFT Gallery widget.

Nothing Phone 1 vs Google Pixel 6a: Conclusion

Both phones are nice, but keep in mind that 5.8″ to 6″ is very ergonomic for our hands. Furthermore, the majority of users don’t care about a large split screen unless they are gamers or entertainment enthusiasts.

If Nothing Phone 1 were below 6″, then it could have easily been the most appealing phone in the market today, but Google Pixel 6a beats it as it has its own custom silicon with AI and ML capabilities.

With all these features and performances, we can surely say that the Nothing Phone 1 looks pretty unique with its transparent back and multiple LED lights. Though it has mid-range specs, which is why it’s priced at €399.

  • 8GB + 128GB: €399/$469/₹32,999
  • 8GB + 256GB: €449/$499/₹35,999
  • 12GB + 256GB: €499/$549/₹38,999

However, the Google Pixel 6A is also a good affordable smartphone with decent features. If you want a fast-charging and unique-looking device, then you can buy Nothing Phone 1.

What do you think? Are you willing to buy Nothing Phone 1 which is just a newbie, or a Google Pixel 6A which is from a reliable and well-known company?
